Past experiences with such in-services have by account of Physicians I’ve worked with “increased client satisfaction, decreased stress and increased passion for my work as an Obstetrician”.
Obstetricians completing more than 15 hrs of classes with at least 5 positive referral letters from past clients (who have delivered with that Obstetrician after the completion of the 15 hrs) will receive the “The Gentle Obstetrician” Certificate and will be put on my referral list as Gentle Obstetricians available to pregnant women who inquire.
To maintain certification as a “Gentle Obstetrician”, the OB will need to report yearly a Cesarean rate >10% - the ideal cesarean rate as recommended by the World Health Organization.
Automatic status as a “Gentle Obstetrician” will be granted to any OBGYN who maintains a Cesarean Section rate below 2%
Though it is essential for an Obstetrician to work fast in an emergency situation, and use interventions appropriately, this program was designed to increase the Holistic training of Obstetricians for times when patience in and support for normal, natural birth is most appropriate.
This Program and the certification it offers is specifically for Obstetricians who would like to expand upon their Medical training to improve care for birthing women who do not require interventions.
Training will be given by a selection of Licensed Midwives, Doulas, Lactation Consultants, Childbirth Educators and other Birth workers with over 50 years of collective experience assisting women to have safe and satisfying birth experiences.
